During National Volunteer Appreciation Week, 3HC recognizes the dedication and compassionate care that generous 3HC volunteers provide on a daily basis. Many valuable volunteers contribute unlimited hours of support. Patient support may include visiting, reading, taking walks, writing letters, sharing music, supervising visits with pets and even massage therapy from volunteers with the necessary skills. Volunteers assist with shopping, or household chores, or allow family caregivers the opportunity to get some time away from the home. Patient support is provided in the home, in skilled care facilities and at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
The Governor’s Volunteer Service Award honors the true spirit of volunteerism by recognizing individuals, groups and businesses that make a significant contribution to their community through volunteer service. Award selections are based on the nominee’s volunteer efforts and commitment to time, accomplishments, community impact and enhancement of the lives of others. Nominations are evaluated at the county level. Congratulations to 3HC volunteers, Jan West and Kaye Bradley, for receiving the Governor’s Award this year!
