SECU House at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center
Kitty Askins Expansion
“Expanding Our Compassionate Touch”
Thanks to the wonderful and supportive communities that are served by 3HC and the Kitty Askins Hospice Center, the new “SECU House at Kitty Askins Hospice Center” is now serving additional patients and families. In addition to the new wing, a much deserved renovation of the existing wing, that has served many patients and families since 1995, was completed. New state-of-the-art technology, like the Hill-Rom nurse call system and the new VersaCare beds, were added to improve care and comfort for our patients at “Kitty”.
The expansion also included 12 state-of-the-art bedrooms with private baths, a new chapel, seasonal gardens, family kitchen area, enlarged dining area, commercial kitchen, private patios, alcoves, additional day rooms and play areas for children.
We celebrated the completion of construction and renovations on Sunday, May 1, 2011, with our Open House Ceremony. Supporters of the campaign were invited to visit the new SECU House at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. The event was well attended with over 250 participants. Community leaders, representatives of the families, volunteers and supporters were recognized. Speakers included Kitty Sauls, Chairperson of 3HC’s Campaign Leadership Committee, Mark Twisdale, Executive Director of the SECU Foundation, Greg Eloshway, Senior Vice President of Southern Bank, Dr. Joe McLamb, Mayor Al King and Grover Dees, Chairperson of 3HC’s Board of Directors.

It is never easy to lose a loved one, but at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center, there is a circle of comfort that surrounds and supports families during their greatest time of need. The Center gives families a comfortable and tranquil setting, where- during one’s last days of life- patients experience the touch of caring, competent medical professionals.
Nurses and staff make it a point to celebrate life for as long as possible. Families are provided with spiritual and professional support to address the deepest and most difficult questions and decisions they’ve probably ever faced, or will again. Kitty Askins provides a unique time and place where families can relax and focus on what’s really important.
The Board of Directors, 3HC Professional Management Team, and the Campaign Leadership Committee is sincerely grateful to all of 3HC’s donors. The following donors have given generously, so the people of Wayne and surrounding counties can benefit from an expanded Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
