Infrared
Therapy
What is Infrared Therapy?
3HC
is now offering infrared therapy. Anodyne emits
monochromatic infrared photo energy (MIRE™) to substantially increase local
circulation and temporarily reduce pain. Anodyne has been designed to maximize
the effectiveness of infrared photo energy using highly efficient light emitting
diodes (LEDs) placed in direct skin contact.
The outcomes achieved with Infrared
Therapy include:

Improved wound healing in chronic non-healing wounds

Faster healing and prevention of pressure ulcers

Potential to prevent amputations in diabetic patients

Faster healing of all types of injuries and surgeries

Better pain management

Reduction in pain medications

Improved contracture management

Restoration of protective sensation in diabetic peripheral
neuropathy

Improved gait and balance with potential to reduce falls due
to DPN and arthritis pain
How does Anodyne Infrared Therapy work? Light-emitting diodes are
fitted into flexible pads that can be applied directly to the skin on any part
of the body. When the monochromatic infrared energy therapy pads are placed on
the skin, the photon energy helps release a free radical called Nitric Oxide
from hemoglobin in the red blood cells. Nitric Oxide increases local
microcirculation, has beneficial effects on nerve function and pain, and helps
deliver oxygen and nutrients where they are needed.
What should you expect from
our program? Anodyne is non-invasive, drug-free and safe. When Anodyne Therapy is used,
patients experience a comfortable warmth. This warmth and the infrared
light itself help reduce pain and increase circulation to injured muscles and
joints. This increased circulation helps decrease swelling and speed recovery.
There are no known adverse effects or drug interactions.
Therapy may include
any or all of the following interventions, depending on the patients’ particular
needs:

Anodyne Therapy to reduce pain and increase circulation to impaired tissues
and nerves

Stretching and strengthening exercises

Dynamic and static balance exercises

Massage and the use of other therapeutic modalities for pain

Sensory integrative techniques to put it all together
Are there any side effects?
No side effects have been
reported as long as Anodyne Therapy is properly used and monitored. If you have
diabetes, check your blood sugars often during any change in therapy or
activity. Always follow the directions of your doctor or therapist when using
Anodyne Therapy.
