Making a Donation
Your generosity and compassion make it possible for Hospice to meet the needs of its patients and their loved ones!
Hospice of 3HC is a not-for-profit program that provides care and services for terminally ill patients, and their families, in the home and at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Most importantly, hospice care focuses on maximizing the quality of life for both the patient and the family through pain control and emotional support. 3HC relies strongly on your donations, and the support of our community, to enable us to continue to provide the best possible care and services to our Hospice patients and families. All contributions are tax deductible as allowed by IRS regulations.
There are several ways you can help make a difference!
A memorial gift to Hospice is a meaningful way to honor the memory of someone special in your life. Families often specify memorials to the Hospice Program of 3HC, “in lieu of flowers” in funeral notices, as a way of honoring loved ones at the time of death. Many choose memorial contributions to Hospice as a way to commemorate the birthday or anniversary of a loved one each year.
“In Honor Of” Gifts
A gift “in honor of” gives you the opportunity to support Hospice and to express your love and respect for a family member, friend, co-worker or other individual. This type of contribution is a thoughtful way to observe someone’s birthday or anniversary, in lieu of or in addition to a gift. The person honored by your contribution will receive a letter announcing your gift.
For both Memorial Gifts and In Honor Of Gifts, consider donating to the Walk of Life, or the Wings of Life all located at 3HC’s Kitty Askins Hospice Center. The Walk of Life is designed to allow patients, families and friends a place to share experiences, thoughts and emotions in a tranquil environment. A stepping-stone can be dedicated to a loved one for a donation of $250. The stone is engraved and becomes a permanent fixture in The Walk of Life. A beautifully hand-made, ceramic butterfly can be dedicated to a loved one for a donation of $1,000. The butterfly will be adorned with your loved one’s name & become a permanent fixture in the Wings of Life hallway.
Naming Opportunities for the Kitty Askins Expansion
We have recently completed the expansion of the SECU House at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, and there are several naming opportunities still available at the SECU House, as well as on our residential wing. A beautiful butterfly engraved plaque will be permanently placed in the area you have named at the Center. Contact our Community Development department at 919-735-1387, for a listing of naming opportunities that are currently available.
Gifts can be made to Hospice, earmarked for a particular use, or support an aspect of Hospice’s program that is of special interest to the giver. Gifts can be made to the following programs:
- Kitty Askins Hospice Center
- Butterfly Wings Program
- Wings! A Camp for Grieving Children
- Indigent Fund
- Hospice Services
A Planned Gift is a gift arranged or provided for during the giver’s lifetime, but it may not actually be received in its entirety by Hospice until after the donor’s death. A planned gift is often made through a will, but can also be made in other ways, such as a life insurance policy or trust. Some planned gifts are structured so that Hospice receives regular contributions during the donor’s lifetime, while the donor receives charitable deductions and other tax benefits. Planned gifts may be in the form of cash, real estate, stock or other sources.
The greatest advantage of planned giving is that it provides the opportunity to make a major gift to Hospice without making a comparable financial sacrifice during the donor’s lifetime. Click here for more information on planned giving.
